Three Ways to Invest in Our Planet: Earth Day 2026 in Denver

  |     |   Denver Living, General, Lifestyle

Earth Day is just around the corner, bringing extra awareness of how we can all get involved and invest in our planet. Hundreds of thousands of people will gather on Wednesday, April 22, to celebrate. There are many events and activities in Denver, including community clean-ups, educational workshops, and local fairs, but you can also do everyday things to help. Here are three ways to fight climate change every day.

Try a Climate-Friendly Diet

Did you know that you have a foodprint? It measures the impact of growing, producing, transporting, and storing our food. Our foodprint creates more than a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions. Adopting a plant-based diet reduces the resources required to produce animal-based foods. If more people made this shift, it would use less water, conserve land for crops, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from food production.

Go Plogging

You’ve probably been running, walking, or hiking, but have you been plogging? It’s where you combine running, walking, or hiking with picking up trash. When you track your miles or kilometers, you can track how much waste you pick up. Picking up trash and litter along trails or roads will help keep it from entering our waterways and, eventually, the oceans. Learn more about plogging and a few people who have embraced it here. here.

Remove. Refuse. Rally to Cut Plastic

Plastic is one of the largest contributors to environmental pollution. We've heard about reducing, reusing, and recycling to help lessen plastic's impact. This year, focus on these three "R's" to cut plastic pollution: Remove, refuse, rally. Remove any plastic you see on the ground. Refuse plastic straws and cups by opting for reusable alternatives. Rally your community to reduce single-use plastics, such as bags and similar items.
